State °µÍøTV Data Reference File (SEDREF) Accounts
Overview:
The State °µÍøTV Department Reference File (SEDREF),Ìýis the official database maintained by the °µÍøTV (NYSED). It provides authoritative information on all educational institutions and organizations that interact with NYSED including:
- Public schools and districts
- Charter schools
- Nonpublic schools
- Other education-related entities
SEDREF supports communication, data collection, and access to NYSED’s secure online systems. More information is available on theÌý.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Information Requirements:
NYSED requires every institution to have a CEO listed in SEDREF. This includes permanent, interim, and temporary CEOs.
Key requirements:Ìý
- A CEO must always be listed for each BEDS Code. The field cannot be left blank.
- The CEO is responsible for managing their location’s data and granting access to that data. NYSED cannot grant access on their behalf.
- NYSED uses an automated process to manage CEO Ìýaccounts based on the SEDREF nightly updates.
How CEO Account Automation Works
Once a CEO change is submitted in SEDREF, an overnight process:
- Creates an account for the new CEO.
- Copies all access from the previous CEO.
- Disables the previous CEO's account.
This process may take up to 48 hours after the SEDREF update.
Important:
CEO accounts should not be manually created, modified, or disabled. The automation handles all changes for every BEDS Code.
